Job Description

Abbott seeks a Metrologist, Calibration for its Structural Heart Business in St. Paul, Minnesota. The role involves calibrating measurement and test equipment, maintaining documentation, troubleshooting complex calibration issues, and mentoring junior staff while working independently under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate new components to written protocols and maintain accurate calibration records
• Set up calibration sequences, methods, and procedures according to specifications and documentation
• Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace defective test equipment parts as needed
• Write calibration procedures, prepare documentation, input data, and generate technical reports
• Identify root causes of calibration problems and mentor less experienced personnel on complex tasks

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 8 years progressively responsible calibration and test equipment experience
• PMEL certification or equivalent electronics training preferred
• Proficiency with oscilloscopes, counters, function generators, power supplies, and related metrology instruments
• Strong technical reading, writing, and mathematical calculation skills
• Demonstrated fine motor control and ability to work with precision instruments independently
• Effective English communication and ability to pass reading comprehension assessment
